“Music with a social sense”
Meliza Metzger Gomez is a soprano from Pamplona, Colombia.
Meliza believes in the importance for artists to be committed not only with the personal development of their musicianship and artistry; but also with the development of channels to approach and help our communities through music. While at the Royal Academy of Music with a big interest on bringing arts to the community she took part in community projects with the Open Academy, working mostly with primary schools and care homes. She continues taking part on outreach projects in Colombia working with children’s choirs and the exploration of operatic repertoire.
Previous operatic and oratorio experience includes Ida and Adele cover in “ Die Fledermaus” with St Paul’s Opera, London, Zerbinetta “Ariadne auf Naxos” with Three Bridges Festival, Scotland, Mme Herz/Mlle Silberklang “Der Schauspieldirektor”, Belinda “Dido and Aeneas”, Queen of the night “Die Zauberflote”, Prima sorella cercatrice “Suor Angelica”, Magnificat and Cantatas BW211, BW11, BW4 (J.S Bach), Mass in C, Exultate Jubilate (W.A Mozart), Stabat Mater (F. Beck) (G. Pergolesi) Mass (L. Bernstein) performed at the Auditorium of Bordeaux, Opera de Bordeaux, Mario Laserna, Bogota , Ptuj Castle, Slovenia, Opera al Parque, Colombia, Royal Festival Hall, London, Chateau Malagar, France, Meliza is part of the 2024-2025 Emerging artist scheme with Greenwich Opera in association with Greenwich Theater, London.
A keen recitalist, she has a particular interest in chamber music and especially after the pandemic; she has focused on the development of spaces, opportunities and projects for the performance of small setting chamber groups while contributing to the social aspect of music and collaborating with up-and-coming young composers. In her latest recital series she performs the Brentano Lieder Op.68 (R. Strauss) and musical paralels to Mozart Concert arias for coloratura soprano.
Graduated from Royal Academy of Music with a Masters in Vocal performance, she holds a diploma of Musical studies in Art Lyrique (DEM) from the Conservatoire de Bordeaux in France She has participated in masterclasses with Susan Bullock, Christopher Purves, Victoria Livengood Damien Guillon, Lorraine Nubar, Luciana Serra, Dalton Baldwin among others.
Besides her musical studies, Meliza holds a diploma on Italian Cultural Studies and Language. Passionate for languages, she pursuits studies of Linguistics and Translation and has a special interest on Psycholinguistics.
